Obituary:

Charles Pofahl, 85, formerly of Kenosha, late of Muskego, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2006, at his residence. He was born on January 16, 1921, on the family farm in Kenosha County, the son of the late John and Rose (Seymour) Pofahl. Charles married the love of his life, Aline Blaziewske, on May 1, 1943, in Kenosha where they resided until 2004 before relocating to Muskego to be closer to family. When they married, Charles and Aline took over the family farm located off Hwy. C in Kenosha County. They dairy farmed until 1972 and then grew corn and soybeans until their retirement. He was a strong but gentle man with big hands and an even bigger heart. He had simple tastes and appreciated the small things in life and seldom complained about life's challenges. He had a quiet sense of humor, often making funny comments under his breath. His warm personality and friendly smile won over many of the caregivers he encountered during this last year of hospitalizations and nursing home stays. Charles was active with the Bristol Senior Citizens group. He loved to polka, however, due to his health, the last few years he had to settle for watching polka tapes. His curiosity was shown through his love of travel as he explored back roads on his trips to visit friends and relatives. He often explored the neighboring countryside to look at the crops and note any changes taking place. Charles was proud of his farm and its fertile soil and even more proud of his family and grandchildren. Charles will be deeply missed by his wife, Aline of Muskego; two sons, Darrell (Darlene) Pofahl of Onalaska, WI, Robert (Julie) Pofahl of Middleton, WI, a daughter, Bonnie (Richard) Barnhart of Hales Corners; eight grandchildren, Amy Pofahl, Benjamin Pofahl, Nathan (Kristen) Pofahl, Jennifer Pofahl, Katherine Pofahl, Adam Barnhart, Kara Barnhart, and Allison Barnhart; a sister, Ruth Smith of Sacramento, CA; and a brother, Howard (Marie) Pofahl of Riverside, CA. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mabel Krahn, Fred Pofahl, Alice Reinhard, Irene Spence, Mildred Rochau, and Wesley Pofahl.
