Service:

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 11 AM at the Kenosha Christian Reformed Church, 7502 - 25th Avenue.  Interment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. 

Visitation:

A visitation will be held at the Kenosha Christian Reformed Church, 7502 25th Avenue on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the time of service.

Obituary:

Melvin A. Leys, 76, of Kenosha, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Hospice House.    

He was born July 30, 1935 in Kenosha, WI.  He was the son of the late Alma (Carlsen) & Cornelius Leys.  Melvin was educated in the Kenosha public schools graduating from Mary D. Bradford High School in June 1953 and was a member of the National Honor Society. 

He served in the US Army Adjutant General Corps for 2 years and active reserve for 2 years. 

He was employed for 41 years by the American Brass Company in Customer Service and Inventory control and 12 years by Six Flags Great America in Inventory Control for Food & Games. 

Melvin was a lifelong member of the Kenosha Christian Reformed Church where he served as treasurer for 45 years and as organist for over 50 years.  He was a member of the former Kenosha/Racine Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and for 31 years, the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) where he enjoyed attending their conventions & conferences.  He was also a member of the National Amusement Park Historical Association. 

His hobby was traveling to amusement parks to ride the various rides and especially roller coasters.  He has been on over 250 coasters.

He is survived by his two brothers, Richard Leys and Kenneth (Mary) Leys; and his sister, Audrey (Tom) Paul.  Nieces and nephews, Rick (Deena) Leys, Janet (David) Uhlir, MaryAnn (Mark) Zorc, Melissa (Jon) Smith, Tracy Leys, Kevin Leys, and Michael (Laura) Leys also survive him.  There are many great nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Yolanda Leys.
