DeVon L. "Shelly" SheldonMay 09, 1930 - February 03, 2012 Service:Funeral Services and interment with full military honors will be held in Viroqua, WI on Saturday, February 11, 2012. The Reetz-Thorson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements in Viroqua, WI. Visitation:A visitation for Shelly will be held at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home on Thursday, February 9th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Obituary:DeVon L. "Shelly" Sheldon, age 81 of Union Grove, died Friday morning, February 3, 2012 at Hospice House. Born on May 9, 1930 in Vernon County, he was the son of Leslie and Lucille (Axlen) Sheldon. He was baptized in the Methodist Church in Desoto and confirmed in the West Prairie Lutheran Church. On September 5, 1953 in West Prairie Lutheran Church, he was married to Bonnie Adams. For many years, Shelly was a skilled truck mechanic. He started his own business that bought, sold and repaired lawn mowers. In 1955, he was employed at Arco Auto Carriers for ten years. Shelly will be remembered for his love of family; especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; two daughters, Jeanette (Steven) Hase of Viroqua and Cheryl Sheldon of Kenosha; two sons, David Sheldon of Kenosha and Duane (Sue) Sheldon of Texas; ten grandchildren, Amy, Gloria, Melissa, Jeremy, Lashawna, Lucille, Jason, David, Erik and Kelly; sixteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard of Viroqua; a sister-in-law, Joyce of Viroqua, and other relatives and friends. Shelly was preceded in death by his father, Leslie in January, 1979; his mother, Lucille in June, 1995; and a brother in 1997. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Hospice House. They were all wonderful and caring people. |
