Obituary:

Helen M. Tianen, age 89 of Kenosha, passed away peacefully at United Hospital System - Kenosha Campus on Saturday, January 21, 2012.

Born in Kenosha on March 11, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Palese) Pellicori. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Kenosha High School.

On October 19, 1946, she was united in marriage to Roger E. Tianen at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kenosha. They were married for forty-three years, before he preceded her in death on April 15, 1990.

A proud homemaker, Helen found joy in raising her family and caring for her home. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Italian American Ladies Auxiliary, the Kenosha Senior Action Council, the Kenosha Woman's Club and, many years ago, was a member of a crochet club. Her social calendar was always full, and she enjoyed playing in her weekly card club, attending aerobics three times a week and meeting family and friends for coffee at McDonalds. Helen also looked forward to senior bus trips to various plays, musicals and museums. She enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening, reading, listening to piano and big band music, and was an avid football and baseball fan, rooting for the Packers, Saints, Cubs and Brewers. She will be fondly remembered for her enthusiasm for life and her keen attention to detail.

Surviving Helen are her loving children, Bruce (Susan) Tianen of Naperville, IL, Laura (Kenny) Vanderpoel and TrezMarie (Jim) Zotkiewicz, both of New Orleans, LA; her adored grandchildren, Jason and Krista Tianen and Meredith and Claire Zotkiewicz; her cherished great-grandchildren, Joey Tianen and Damian Chelios; and many loving family members and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Leineweber.

Funeral services for Helen will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 12:00 PM at the All Saints Cemetery Chapel, 3300 Springbrook Rd., Pleasant Prairie. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum. A visitation will be held at the cemetery chapel on Wednesday from 10:30 AM until the time of the service.

Dear Laura and Kenny I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I had gone to my mother's house to deliver food and discovered her crying. Your mother's death has had a profound affect on my Helen. She was thinking about all the things they did together as children in the old neighborhood. Your mom, like mine, was a strong, self- determined woman who will be missed greatly.

We are so terribly sorry to hear of your great loss, Trez. It was wonderful that she was able to come to New Orleans and be involved in your lives so we could all get to know her. We will pray for you and your family that your fond memories will soon overshadow the terrible pain of her loss today. She will certainly be a special angel. Hugs to all.

Helen was a very special lady. My mom and her were best friends for years and she was like a second mom to me. I didn't see her as much as I would have liked to, but I thought of her often. Her family was everything to her. She will be missed by all. Rest in peace Helen.
