Obituary:

Joan C. Johanowicz, age 73, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at United Hospital System - Kenosha Campus.

Joan was born on June 25, 1938, in Kenosha, a daughter of the late Anthony and Louise (Kuchera) Venskus.

She worked as a stewardess for Delta Airlines until she married Joseph Johanowicz on Dec 17, 1966, at St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Joan received her education at St. Mary's Elementary School and was a graduate of St. Mary's High School.

She then worked alongside her husband and brother and sister-in-law, John and Ann Johanowicz, owning and operating Timber Ridge Restaurant. Joan will be remembered for her delicious homemade Monday Night Football "Specials". Later then, for many years, Joan worked as a tourist guide at the I-94 and WI State Line Tourist Center.

She was a member of St. Anthony Church, Wisconsin Restaurant Association and the Kenosha County Tavern League. As her children were in school at St. Mary's, she volunteered her time teaching.

She is survived and will be sadly missed by her husband, Joe; her children, Dr. Denise (Dr. David Hei) Johanowicz, Christopher (Shawn) Johanowicz and Steven Johanowicz and her two granddaughters, Alexandra and Elizabeth Hei; along with her sisters Carolyn Miller and Mary Jane Ciboski.

I worked with Joannie out at the tourist information center along I-94 and Hwy 165 for many years. She was a great lady and will be missed. I am sorry for your loss and my heart and prayers go out to the family during this difficult time. I will miss her very much as I had seen her days before she passed and had great conversations and stories and memories with each other because she was a patient where I worked. So sorry for your loss....

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you . There are no words that make this better. So I will just say that my childhood memories are filled with auntie Joanie, from Christmas eve's at Grandma's to large Thanksgivings at Timber Ridge to small dinners upstairs, delivered from downstairs with a jingle of the bell. To locking myself in the hall closet( and having to be broken out), and Auntie Joanie's version of the birds and the bees. To getting yelled at because we were to loud and the scar on my nose from her crazy dog Heather, and many ,many LONG drives up north. So many laughs and so much love, We all didn't have much but we have fun. Hugs and kisses to all. Love Shelly
