To Alex and Andrew and all of Jean's family.  We are so deeply sorry and extend to you our sincere condolences.  I am part of the Northbrook, IL, Cancer Wellness Center's Ovarian Group. We were honored by having Jean visit us and learn from us and take those ideas back to Wisconsin to start her group there.   We also liked sharing ideas and hopes and tips, and so deeply regret that they did not keep her with you longer.   Jean was so proud of her sons, and so wanted to remain with them.  I am grieving for her and for you.

Andrew and Alex, I am so sorry for your loss.  You are in my thoughts and prayers. I once received this card and it helped me to heal.

They are not gone, but changed-

souls turned to light

transformed into stars

that burn forever in the sky

shining down upon us

through openings in heaven,

keeping watch...sending love

Love lives forever,

A new star in heaven

now shines just for you.

Your entire Vernon family is thinking of you, now and always... Miss Langerman

Andrew and Alex, I am so sorry for your loss.  You are in my thoughts and prayers. We have been neighbors for many years.  Your mother was a kind and helpful neighbor.  I appreciated the things she and you boys have done to help me in the past.  She will be missed.

I first met Jean in the military back in the mid 70's in Gelnhausen, Germany.  She and I were stationed with the 709th MP Bn.  A wonderful personality, very entertaining person.  She will be missed by many.  Blessing and peace on her and her two sons.

My deepest sympathies to the Fricke family.

1SG Fricke was my First Sergeant while I was with 3/335th TSBn stationed at Ft. Sheridan, IL.

Jean was a strong mentor, leader and friend to all of us.

The one funny thing I will always remember is when she informed me that I was not supposed to be wearing pink socks in PT uniform.  She asked me if I had washed my white socks with something red.  When I told her no, she very calmly "reminded" me that I should be wearing white socks and that I must have washed them with something red.  At that point I very calmly said "Yes 1SG-I think I may have".  You see as a former Marine and new to the Army I had not checked that part of the uniform regulation to see that we were supposed to be wearing white.

She was also very concerned about all of her Soldiers.  I was injured taking a PT test and she was the first person who saw it.  She made sure she stayed with me to make sure I was ok.

I will miss her greatly.

What can I say about Jean.....she was like a big sister to me.  She always let me lean on her.  I was so blessed to have worked with her. She was so bold, strong, independent, lived life without regrets.   I was so envied her in that respect.  Alex and Andrew know that your mom loved you and and was so very proud of "her boys".  Jean I love you and so miss you....I am going to miss you but know you are where you need to be even though it was too soon.  I will never forget you!

To Jean's Family,

I knew Jean for only a short time, but she was truly a wonderful friend and co-worker.  She wore her illness with dignity and grace.  We worked together at the Department of Corrections in Kenosha for a few years.  I was under the impression that she lived in Racine, so I'm sorry I missed the memorial.  May God keep you safe in his arms and give you strength to endure during this time.

Peace in Christ,
